We’re not usually ones to blow our own trumpet.
But if there ever was a time, this is it…
Hi, I’m Danny.
I got my first taste of weddings as a second shooter, back in 2020. And then a few months (and one pandemic) later, I shot my first solo wedding…easily the most terrifying £600 I’ve ever made! And it’s just completely snowballed from there.
But hang on, let’s backtrack a wee bit.
*Flashback harp*
Before I got into weddings, I was in sales, management, and marketing for 15 years. Shitty? Yes. Informative? Oh, definitely. So when it came to marketing my own business, I hit the ground sprinting.
I’ve invested massively in my website, copy, and branding. I’ve built up a strong referral network of togs, suppliers and clients. I've nailed my customer journey to the point where they can't help but leave me an epic Google review, I’m now one of the best-reviewed videographers in Scotland.
For me it’s all about building a brand people can recognise, and trust.
And it’s made for a crazy few years, to be honest! From complete unknown, to fully booked every year since.
Hi, I’m Jason.
Play music, and I'll always dance. Put on a sports documentary, and I’ll always watch. Fight robots, I’ll scream “Go on Matilda!” with wild hair, and unhinged mania in my eyes.
I’ve been shooting weddings for 15 years now. But for the first decade, I was only ever a second shooter.
Monday to Friday was spent dutifully climbing the corporate ladder; the videography was more of a beloved hobby than a viable career path. And then suddenly- *epiphany moment*- there I was: a cog in a machine.
So I took the leap, shat myself about the mortgage for a while, and soon-after, started Afterglow Wedding Films.
Since then, I’ve nestled snugly into the alternative space. I have a pretty sturdy social following, with (not-so-humble brag) amassed over 90m views on Insta and Tiktok in the last year or so.
And most importantly, everything out there is aimed specifically at my dream client.
Do I get as many enquiries as Danny? No, the guy’s a beast. But my marketing is such; when they enquire, they book.
